It's Easier To Train Dogs With Positive Reinforcement, Instead Of Punishing What You Don't Want

Dogs know value, they know that a piece of kibble (low value) is not worth as much as a training treat (medium value), and a training treat is not worth as much as dehydrated beef liver/chicken (high value). Nothing is worth as much as roasted chicken. I keep all three in my treat pouch at one time. The most being the low value, less medium value, and even less high value. It keeps the dog more engaged. They never know when they are going to get the high-value reward. Rewards after the dog does the behavior; Bribes happen before they do the behavior. Dogs get wise to bribes. Rewards should be small, no bigger than a piece of cat food.
